A person who laced sweets with sedative and gave them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has pleaded guilty to sexual crimes against two children aged nine and ten years old.

The accused was detained after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in the summer month.

The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the courthouse on Friday.

Yet, he refused to admit one particular crime he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

The accused was kept in jail before a further hearing on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

The legal representative, handling the case, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.

She explained his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he ran.

The defendant conducted a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the sleeping quarters when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".

She stated to the judge the defendant had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the following morning.

She said the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the minors being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had suspicions in summer 2025.

Mrs Prior KC stated further: "This year his stepchild had concerns about what was going on, justifiably.

"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."

Mrs Prior KC explained objects including baby oil, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his suspicions.

She said the defendant proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six youngsters that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.

"Authorities" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.

The police watchdog, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the situation.

The prosecutor stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so the stepson contacted the police once more.

She explained the man then played the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
